Dr. Michael J. Sutker is a double board-certified surgeon, recognized by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He serves patients throughout North Texas with offices at Medical City Dallas Hospital and Medical City McKinney Hospital through his practice, Michael Sutker, MD, PA, in affiliation with the Surgical Consultants of Dallas.
At Medical City Dallas, Dr. Sutker holds multiple leadership positions: Chief of Surgery, Medical Director of Robotic Surgery, and Chair of the Advanced Clinical Advisory Board. He also leads the performance improvement committees for both surgery and trauma, ensuring the highest quality of patient care.
Dr. Sutker specializes in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery.

Dr. Sutker’s medical journey began with a degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2008, followed by internship and residency in general surgery at the same institution. He later completed fellowship training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.
Committed to advancing his field, Dr. Sutker maintains memberships with the American College of Surgeons, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Obesity Medicine Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society.
His expertise and patient dedication have earned him numerous honors: Patient Preferred Surgeon (2020–2025), Top10MD (2017–2019), D Magazine Best Doctor in Dallas (2019–2023), and recognition on the Thomson Reuters Billboard in New York City’s Times Square.
