A Brave New Guide for Women: 
Sheila ‘V’ and The Power of Little Steps

  Preferred Health Magazine interviewed media-savvy author, philanthropist and television star Sheila Vijeyarasa - known as Sheila' V' - about her new book, The Power of Little Steps, which was published earlier this year.
In a world full of fads, influencers and life coaches, Vijeyarasa's unique powerful brand stands out as a result of her brave experiences and the realistic themes she's delivering to hard-working women — some who are also mothers juggling their valuable time!
   "My message continues to revolve around bravery and my personal experience in the corporate world," said the keynote speaker who was awarded Coach of the Year for 2025. "Only 12 % of women are finance directors or CFOs - and even less percent include women of color. I was brave in believing I could make it as an executive; I was at tables and board meetings surrounded by men, like many women in their careers. I managed the operations and finances for a global company but I think I was brave in quitting that corporate job and pursuing a spiritual and intuitive path so I could become a healer and a teacher for others."
   For three years, the inspiring former C-Suite finance director shared her IVF journey on the Australian reality show "Big Miracles," which you can catch on most streaming services in the US. Vijeyarasa was also a donor mother and said she felt brave in sharing this vulnerable journey.

   "I guess what sets me apart from other mentors, coaches, public figures and authors is that I felt very congruent to my message. I lived and breathed bravery my whole life," she confessed.  "I have a lot of anecdotes and stories as a corporate executive. I find that many women want to make it to senior leadership roles and they also don't know how to do it as moms."

She touched on the subject of women who want to be mothers later in life.
"So many women want to become mothers later in life and then they feel like they've 'missed the boat'. I met my soul mate at 44 and I got married at 45, so I embrace being a late bloomer. I think my message is real and grounded. I believe my kind of courage and bravery is real, raw and relatable," she said in earnest. "I think for a motivational speaker, you want someone who's done something you could do too."


In a culture obsessed with quick wins and perfection, The Power of Little Steps, which is   Vijeyarasa's second book, champions a quieter path to success: grounded, consistent and soulful action. The impactful guide is designed for high-achieving women who feel stuck, burnt out, or disconnected. Vijeyarasa shares how small, spiritually aligned decisions can create lasting personal and professional breakthroughs. Blending mindset work, spiritual practices, and emotional mastery, she invites readers to move from fear into clarity—one brave act at a time.

"I wrote this book when I was pregnant - and there's something about a woman when she's pregnant and gives birth that makes her so creative," she said. "There are so many ideas and inspirations coming to her and that's what my experience was. My second book happened a lot faster than my first. It felt like the message was urgent in light of the fact that many women saw me on my TV show. So many women reached out to me asking me how I stayed resilient, how did I get through that difficult time and how I coped."
   "Little Steps" focuses on how women can recover from adversity and setbacks - like job loss, fertility struggles, dissolving marriages and how can single parents in their 30s or 40s bounce back?
   According to Vijeyarasa,  "This is more of a mindset book. And when we talk about one of the most important messages - purpose over perfection - we have to see that perfectionism freezes us, purpose moves us forward. A lot of high-performing women are conditioned to be 'perfect' and what we tend to do is abandon ourselves to people please, to get validation from external sources. But that's actually the fastest way to move us away from authenticity and our purpose. We'll only really discover purpose by taking little brave acts away from perfection and move towards purpose. The opposite of being perfect isn't 'imperfect,' the opposite of being perfect is being brave."

When she coaches women, Vijeyarasa encourages them to be brave and speak up at meetings, even if their voice shakes.
  "Put yourself forward if you don't already…Send that report instead of harboring and laboring over it, and get home on time to take care of yourself. Spend time with your kids and spend time on yourself. This is the power of little brave steps that move us forward in life."
   Vijeyarasa also shares how to heal from trauma through mental and emotional layers. "From our childhood, we create beliefs that we're not lovable. In this book I take readers through a lot of mindfulness exercises - and that means we need to look into our childhood and do another layer of healing.:
   In her life-changing book, Vijeyarasa recommends cocooning - which she calls the messy middle. It's all about transforming and letting go of your old identity creating a new identity that's more aligned with who you want to become. She also recommends reflective journaling and working with a therapist or counselor to heal the right way.
   Giving women a confidence boost - along with new ways to look at productivity - the corporate trainer said she's practically a self-learner. She began reading self-help books in her 20s and developed a unique sense of guidance through all of her spiritual and professional experiences at a young age.
