Technology has infiltrated and integrated into the health space, innovating how medical professionals diagnose, treat, and facilitate preventative care. While some health and beauty trends come and go, using tech is only the start of a more personalized approach to health.
The rising health tech trends are redefining wellness to provide faster results, better and more customized care. Tech in health also aids in advancing therapies and treatment.
"Right now, the trends are leaning heavily toward regenerative medicine and non-invasive technologies," hair surgeon Dr. Hannah Kopelman said. "These approaches are focused on enhancing the body's natural ability to heal and rejuvenate itself. Patients are more informed and eager for solutions that offer real benefits with minimal downtime."
As a hair restoration surgeon at Kopelman Aesthetic Surgery, Dr. Kopelman recognizes the overlap between advancements in skin health and overall wellness. NYC-based Oasis Day Spas' Skin Care director, Melissa Annunziata, added that it's exciting to see some of the latest trends in skincare and overall health that are transforming the industry. "These innovative treatments and technologies, some new and some tried and true professional-gone-mainstream, are helping people achieve radiant skin while enhancing their overall well-being," said Annunziata. "Technologies such as red-light therapy, oxygen therapy, collagen stimulating treatments, and microcurrent are making waves today. It's an exciting time in the world of skincare and wellness, with advanced technologies helping us achieve the best version of ourselves."

1. Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy is used for its skin and hair health benefits.
"The treatment uses low-wavelength red light to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which just about everyone can benefit from," Annunziata said. "This can help reduce inflammation, fine lines, wrinkles, and improve skin tone, while also speeding up the healing process for wounds like when you may or may not have picked a breakout."
Red light therapy can also help with hair loss. "For the scalp, it increases blood flow and stimulates the hair follicles, promoting growth and improving thickness," Dr. Kopelman said. "When it comes to skin, it enhances collagen production, reduces inflammation, and even helps with wound healing."

It's best to get in-office red light therapy because the devices are more powerful and precise compared to at-home masks.  At-home options can still be effective, but expect results to take longer. Proper usage is important. Annunziata recommends at-home devices to maintain results in between professional sessions.

2. Oxygen Therapy

Oxygen therapy is a treatment that infuses oxygen and active ingredients into the skin.

"On a cellular level, oxygen is essential for healing and vitality, so using it in skincare helps skin cells regenerate and function more effectively," Annunziata said. "This treatment is often used in facials to hydrate, plump, and rejuvenate the skin, providing an instant boost."

This treatment helps to improve overall skin texture and appearance. "By delivering oxygen at a cellular level, it boosts hydration, reduces inflammation, and supports healing," said Dr. Kopelman. "It's also a fantastic way to give the skin a refreshed, glowing appearance, which is why it's becoming increasingly popular in dermatology and wellness."

3. Ozone IV Treatments
One of the more recent rising trends is ozone IV treatments. "Ozone IV therapy gets right to the source by delivering ozone directly into the bloodstream," Annunziata said.
This treatment promotes detoxification, enhances oxygen utilization, and supports overall health and immunity. "Ozone IV therapy is a newer trend, and I've been intrigued by its potential," said Dr. Kopelman.
The process involves infusing oxygen and ozone into the bloodstream, which helps reduce oxidative stress, boosts immunity, and improves circulation."
Dr. Kopelman said it's an area where more research is evolving, but many patients report feeling more energized and healthier after regular treatments - recommended once a month, though some individuals may see results quicker with more frequent sessions. Always consult with a healthcare provider to treat individual needs.

4. Collagen-Stimulating Treatments
Collagen-stimulating treatments are expected to continue to gain popularity as the growing demand for non-invasive, natural-looking enhancements continues. "Collagen is the foundation of healthy skin and strong hair, so it's no surprise these treatments are gaining traction," Dr. Kopelman said. "In 2025, I expect to see even more innovative ways to stimulate collagen, whether through micro-needling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP), radiofrequency treatments, or peptide-based therapies."
With more people embracing aging naturally, as a licensed esthetician specializing in anti-aging treatment, Annunziata believes that boosting natural collagen for skin health will likely be integrated into more skincare regimens.
"As we age, collagen production naturally declines, leading to wrinkles, sagging, and loss of skin volume," she said.
Collagen helps improve skin elasticity, reduce wrinkles, and enhance hair density. Dr. Kopelman uses PRP frequently in her practice for its natural yet effective results. "Collagen is the cornerstone of both skincare and hair restoration."

5. Biohacking Technologies
Biohacking technologies refer to advanced tools, techniques, and devices that are designed to boost physical and mental performance, enhance beauty, and improve overall well-being. Examples include wearable devices that monitor health in real-time, personalized supplements and skincare, genetic testing kits, and treatments like exosome therapy, a regenerative treatment that uses stem cells to deliver proteins and RNA to target cells for tissue repair, reducing inflammation, and cell rejuvenation.
"As someone passionate about precision health, I see these tools empowering patients to take control of their wellness like never before," Dr. Kopelman.

Bonus Emerging Health Trend: Microcurrent Therapy
Another non-invasive treatment that may rise in popularity in 2025 is microcurrent therapy. Known as a "non-surgical facelift," this treatment uses low-level electrical currents to stimulate facial muscles to lift, tone, and firm the skin.
"Microcurrent therapy works by mimicking the body's natural electrical currents to stimulate the muscles, increasing circulation and collagen production," Annunziata said. "Kind of like taking your facial muscles to the gym."
This treatment sculpts, reduces puffiness, and helps smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Patients are recommended to get six professional treatments or daily at-home sessions with a device like Nu-Face.
Annunziata said this treatment is popular among those seeking a non-invasive option for facial lifting and toning to prevent the early signs of aging without invasive procedures.
